Should Universities Track Students?

Behind the Poll:

A Breitbart News story recently revealed that Michigan State University, Penn State University, and others were tracking student behaviors. This included encouraging students to report on the speech of their peers and punishing them for not taking COVID-19 tests or vaccinations.

The official narrative from Michigan State University was that this allows the university to “track and respond to behaviors and situations that work to support or detract from [its] goals of a safe and supportive environment.”

Many conservatives disagree and believe this is a form of communism spreading across America. Others feel that free speech does not mean hate speech and that COVID-19 must be fought at any cost. Are universities right or wrong to be tracking their students?
