House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has made her latest bid to undermine Trump by suggesting he change his plans for a State of the Union speech.
In a letter penned to Trump, Pelosi begins by feigning concern for the president. She cites that the continued shutdown has affected the Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security, the organizations routinely responsible for maintaining security at such an event.
“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address,” Pelosi states.
In a more laughable suggestion, Pelosi offered that the President give his address to Congress in writing, a practice that went out of style last century.
Does Pelosi really think these suggestions will sway Trump to back down on his stance for border security to re-open the government?
It seems Democrats are really scraping the bottom of the barrel as they allow the longest U.S. shutdown in history to continue.
