With all of the talk surrounding the public release of the House Intelligence Committee memo, Former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson decided to share his expertise on the way the government has decided to handle the matter. As something that will expose the Justice Department and FBI for political bias, he believes it is not to be taken lightly and the current action being proposed is “not the way to run a government.”
Johnson claims, “This is the kind of thing that has to go through a protocol, a process to make sure everything is considered, to make sure that declassifying information does not institute damage to our relationships with foreign governments or compromise sources and methods or damage national security. And so I hope that we go through that process.”
“That’s about as serious as one could express a national security concern when you say I have grave concerns. We don’t throw around phrases like that unless we’re really, really concerned about what it is people want to do.”
