Behind the Poll:
Dr. Fauci has claimed that the fight against COVID-19 is like the Second World War, commenting that: “It’s kind of like we’re halfway through World War II, and you decide, ‘I think I’ve had enough of this. I’m walking away.’ You can’t do that. You’ve gotta finish it. And we’re gonna finish this and get back to normal.”
According to the World Health Organization, around 5.3 million people have died from COVID-19. In World War 2, estimates ranged from 35-60 million. That makes Fauci’s comparison seem inappropriate.
Do you think he was right to compare COVID-19 to the Second World War, or is he exaggerating?
