The state of Nevada has become the first in the union to introduce mandatory fines on unvaccinated government workers and their family members. The rule will affect thousands of unvaccinated state employees when it comes into force in July 2022.
The fines would be $55 a month for the workers and $175 for their “spouses, partners, and dependents 18 and over”. The executive officer of the Public Employees’ Benefit Program Board, Laura Rich, said the fines would offset the costs of COVID testing.
