The Pentagon has recently updated its guidance for dealing with troops who express support for extremist ideas. In what many see as a step too far, it has said that troops who like or share content deemed extreme can be punished.
Troops will be given training on what kind of content is prohibited, and a senior defense official said: “It basically clarifies … that service members are responsible for the content that they publish on all personal and public internet domains,”.
