Nancy Pelosi has been facing widespread opposition from within Congress to her defense of lawmakers trading stocks while in office. She declared that “We are a free-market economy. They should be able to participate in that.”
However, Pelosi’s family saw their wealth increase throughout the pandemic, which might be a reason for her defense of trading while in office. Radical Democrat lawmaker Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pushed back, saying: “There is no reason members of Congress should hold and trade individual stock when we write major policy and have access to sensitive information.”
