She deserves it…

On Tuesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doubled down on her comparison of the situation at the southern border of the United States to the concentration camps of the Holocaust. She was promptly reprimanded by Rep. Dan Crenshaw, who gave her a lesson in reality as well as firing a challenge directly at her. Fellow Texan Steven Crowder also slammed Ocasio-Cortez with a lacerating tweet.

As The Daily Wire reported, on Monday night Ocasio-Cortez said during a live Instagram video, “The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border and that is exactly what they are. They are concentration camps. And, um, if that doesn’t bother you, I don’t, I don’t know, I like, we can have, okay whatever.” She also alluded to the Holocaust by adding the words “Never Again,” blathering, “I want to talk to the people that are concerned enough with humanity to say that we should not that ‘Never Again’ means something and that the fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the home of the free is extraordinarily disturbing and we need to do something about it.”

On Tuesday morning Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “This administration has established concentration camps on the southern border of the United States for immigrants, where they are being brutalized with dehumanizing conditions and dying. This is not hyperbole. It is the conclusion of expert analysis. And for the shrieking Republicans who don’t know the difference: concentration camps are not the same as death camps. Concentration camps are considered by experts as ‘the mass detention of civilians without trial.’ And that’s exactly what this administration is doing.”

Crenshaw fired back, “Clearly I need to explain that, in concentration camps, people are unjustly sought out and confined. This isn’t what is happening at the border. Migrants are illegally crossing our border. Most are asylum seekers, thus pending trial, so your expert definition doesn’t apply. Your comments reveal total disregard for our sovereignty & a deep ignorance that belittles the horrors of the Holocaust. If you’re worried about conditions at the border, why don’t you do something about it & support @RepMikeRogersAL’s bill securing billions in humanitarian aid?”

Even one Canadian who considers himself a liberal also took issue with Ocasio-Cortez, writing, “I’m not a shrieking republican. I am a left of centre member of the canadian liberal party. And I find your use of the phrase ‘concentration camp’ utterly baffling. In my opinion it is inappropriate and detracts from otherwise legitimate criticism of what is going on. And I don’t give a flying s*** what ‘historically’ ivory tower academics called it, today it is firmly associated with the Holocaust and the Nazi extermination of the Jews. The far left is so hell bent on labeling everything in the worst terms possible they lose sight of the debate.”

Crowder issued a tweet that was simple and powerful:
