In what could prove to be a major turning point in the mainstream media, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly is now the first TV anchor to openly suggest that President Barack Obama should be impeached.
Her comments came during an interview with Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in which they were discussing Obama’s presidential power grab and selective application of the law.
Mitch McConnell: “The President is busily at work trying to collect power that he doesn’t have. And it really began when he lost the House in 2010.”
Megyn Kelly: “When you have a president who, in your view or the view of some, is out of control in terms of overreach, you as the lawmaker really have two meaningful options. And the main one that has been used historically is: try to impeach him. I mean, is that ever considered? The other one is to try to de-fund the president’s legislation, which of course you guys have tried before.”
McConnell then steered the conversation away from impeachment and said that de-funding was the “less radical” option. This also happens to be the same option Trey Gowdy has recently talked about using to shut down the president’s power grab.
McConnell then pointed out that the Senate is still controlled by Democrats, which makes it difficult to use the funding mechanism to push back against the president.
