According to The Blaze, “New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a radio interview that if ‘extreme conservatives’ are ‘right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay,’ then ‘they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.'”

Cuomo made the statement during an interview in which he contrasted “extreme” and “moderate” Republicans.

He said: “Their problem is not me and the Democrats. Their problem is themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and if they are the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

Here’s the full audio clip of Cuomo’s comments:

Cuomo defended his comments, claiming they were taken out of context. After all, he did say that “moderate Republicans” have a place in New York.

But by Cuomo’s own definitions, the vast majority of Republicans would be considered “extreme.”

In Cuomo’s mind, a “moderate Republican” must be a person who supports abortion, gay marriage, and bans on rifles like the AR-15. But to any normal person, that describes a Democrat, not a Republican.

So: Is it time for Republicans to abandon New York? Leave a comment and tell us how you feel about Cuomo’s openly intolerant views.
